On a headland above the La Maddalena archipelago, Cone Club needed shade that read as landscape, not roof. INCOMPAR answered with a sculpture of seven-sided membranes — a form so resolved it went on to shape an entire product family.

A Structure That Reads as Landscape, Not Roof.
Cone Club sits on the cliffs of Baja Sardinia, part of 7Pines Resort Sardinia, facing the La Maddalena archipelago. It is a beach club built around the sunset — so the shade could never become a ceiling. It had to hold the sky open.

01 — The Place
Cone Club sits on the cliffs of Baja Sardinia, part of 7Pines Resort Sardinia, above the crystal water of the La Maddalena archipelago. A day-to-night club built around a sunset ritual — the architecture had to frame the view, never block it.

02 — The Architecture
A cluster of bespoke seven-sided membrane cones in warm coral fabric, each tensioned on a radial mast. Engineered for the exposed Costa Smeralda wind, the cones lift the shade into sculpture — and the light beneath them shifts from noon to dusk.

03 — The Origin
The design resolved so cleanly it became a blueprint. The geometry INCOMPAR developed here was later standardised into the hexagonal CALYX system — but Cone Club keeps its seventh side. It remains the bespoke original, one of a kind.

The Design Origin
The seven-sided original.
INCOMPAR designed the bespoke seven-sided membrane for Cone Club. Its success became the design basis for the hexagonal CALYX system that followed — but the original, with its seventh side, remains one of a kind.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why seven sides?
The seven-sided geometry lets each cone nest against its neighbours into one continuous canopy, while giving the membrane the tension it needs to stay taut across a wide span. It is also what makes the structure read as sculpture rather than roof — no two edges meet at the same angle, so the light beneath it is never flat.
Is this the same as the CALYX system?
No. Cone Club is the bespoke seven-sided original. Its success became the design basis for the hexagonal CALYX system that was later standardised — but the Cone Club structure keeps its seventh side and remains a one-off, engineered for this site alone.
How does it handle the Costa Smeralda wind?
Each cone is tensioned on a steel mast with radial cables and load-calculated for the exposed cliffside position. The membrane is a marine-grade tensioned fabric, and the whole cluster is engineered to hold its form through the coastal winds coming off the La Maddalena channel.
